Saguaro Size Chart & Size Guide

Do Saguaro shoes run big? Yes, slightly. Our returns show that Saguaro shoes come up a little large, so if you're between two sizes, the smaller one is usually the better fit. The surest way to get it right is to measure your foot in centimetres and send us the number on WhatsApp before you order.

This guide covers how to measure your feet at home, how a barefoot shoe should feel when it fits, UK and EU sizes in South Africa, kids' sizes, and where to get help.

Are Saguaro shoes true to size?

Close, but not quite. Saguaro runs slightly large, which is why we suggest the smaller size when you're in between. Two more things are worth knowing:

  • Room at the front is normal. Every Saguaro has a wide, foot-shaped toe box, so your toes have space to spread. A barefoot shoe can look and feel roomier at the front than the shoes you're used to. That doesn't mean the size is wrong.
  • Styles differ a little. A lace-up trainer, a slip-on and a rain boot won't fit exactly alike. If you already own one Saguaro style and want another, tell us which one and we'll help you compare.

How to measure your foot at home

You need a sheet of A4 paper, a pencil, a ruler or tape measure, and a wall.

  1. Measure later in the day, when your feet are at their largest, and wear the socks you'll wear with the shoes.
  2. Put the paper on a hard floor with one short edge flat against the wall.
  3. Stand on the paper with your heel touching the wall and your weight on that foot.
  4. Ask someone to mark the tip of your longest toe. It isn't always the big toe.
  5. Measure from the wall edge of the paper to the mark, in centimetres, to the nearest millimetre (for example 25.4 cm).
  6. Do the same for the other foot. Feet are often slightly different lengths, so use the longer one.

Send that number and the style you like to us on WhatsApp on 075 111 2222, and we'll tell you which size to order.

How should a barefoot shoe fit?

A good fit feels different from a narrow, pointed shoe. When your pair arrives, try it on indoors on a clean floor, so you can still exchange it if the size is wrong. Stand up, walk around and check:

  • Length: about a finger's width (roughly 1 cm) between your longest toe and the end of the shoe.
  • Toes: they can spread out and wiggle without pressing on the sides or the top.
  • Heel: snug, with no slipping up and down as you walk.
  • Middle of the foot: held firmly by the laces, toggle or upper, without tight spots.

Signs your pair is too big

  • Your heel lifts out of the shoe as you walk.
  • There's more than a thumb's width of space in front of your longest toe.
  • The front of the shoe folds over or catches on steps.

Signs your pair is too small

  • Your toes touch the end of the shoe when you stand.
  • Your little toe presses against the side.
  • You can't spread your toes inside the shoe.

UK or EU: which shoe sizes does South Africa use?

South African shoe shops mostly use UK sizes: UK 5, UK 6, UK 7 and so on. Many international brands, Saguaro included, are made in EU sizes such as EU 38, 39 and 40. On solz.co.za we show adult Saguaro sizes in UK sizes, so you don't have to convert anything.

Conversion charts don't always agree with each other, especially around half sizes, so a size from another brand's chart is only a starting point. If you know your EU size, send it to us with your foot length and we'll match the two.

Saguaro sizes for adults

  • Adult sizes run from UK3 to UK14. Not every style comes in every size, so check the sizes listed on each product.
  • There are two half sizes, UK5.5 and UK9.5. If you usually wear a different half size, such as UK7.5, the slightly large fit means UK7 is normally the one to try.
  • Most styles are unisex, so men and women choose from the same sizes. Go by your foot length rather than the size you wear in other brands.

Is there a wide fit?

Every Saguaro is already wide at the front. The toe box follows the shape of a foot instead of narrowing to a point, so there's no separate wide fitting. If your feet are on the narrow side, a lace-up style lets you pull the middle of the shoe snug while your toes keep their room.

Saguaro kids' size chart

Our Kids Smart barefoot shoes are sized in UK junior sizes with the EU size alongside. The ages are only a rough guide, because children grow at different rates. Measure the same way as for adults, and leave about a finger's width at the front, not more.

UK size EU size Rough age
Junior 7 24 2 to 2.5 years
Junior 8 25 2.5 to 3 years
Junior 8.5 26 3 to 3.5 years
Junior 9.5 27 3.5 to 4 years
Junior 11.5 30 6 to 7 years
Junior 12.5 31 7 to 8 years
Junior 13 32 8 to 9 years
UK 1 33 9 to 10 years
UK 2 34 10 to 11 years
UK 3 35 11 to 12 years

Children's feet grow quickly, so check the size every few months. If the size you need isn't in the table, WhatsApp us and we'll let you know when it's back. See the range in kids' barefoot shoes.
