Collection: Barefoot Rain Boots & Gumboots

SOL Footwear's barefoot rain boots are soft, waterproof gumboots that fold up small enough to carry in your bag. The Saguaro Brisk I is made from a PVC-free material that keeps out rain and mud, with a wide toe box and a flat, zero-drop sole. They are mid-calf, so shorter than a classic gumboot. Pick fleece-lined for cold, wet days or non-fleece for summer storms. Most of our pairs are in UK5 to UK7, so they work well as ladies' gumboots, and the non-fleece version also comes in a few larger sizes. Made for garden work, dog walks, the school run and rainy commutes.

What to look for in rain boots

  • Waterproof and mud-resistant. The soft, PVC-free material keeps rain and mud out and stays flexible.
  • Foldable and light. Roll them up and pack them in a backpack, handbag or suitcase, ready for a downpour, a festival or a trip away.
  • Room for your toes. A wide toe box gives your toes room to spread, and the zero-drop sole keeps your heel and toes level. The thin, flexible sole lets you feel the ground.
  • The right height. Mid-calf boots are quicker to pull on and easier to fold than tall, classic gumboots. For deep puddles or flooded paths, a taller boot will keep you drier.
  • Lining. Choose red, fleece-lined or black & brown, fleece-lined for winter rain, or black & brown, non-fleece for warmer weather.

Rain boot sizing

Saguaro sizes run slightly large. The fleece-lined Brisk I comes in UK5 to UK8 and the non-fleece version in UK3 to UK11. Sizes sell out, so the size list on each boot shows what we have today. Not sure which size to pick? WhatsApp us on 075 111 2222 and we'll help you choose before you order.

Rain boots and gumboots: your questions

What are rain boots called?

Rain boots have a few names. In South Africa most people call them gumboots, and you'll also hear wellies or wellington boots. They all mean a waterproof boot you pull on.

Are Saguaro rain boots waterproof?

Yes. The Brisk I is made from a soft, PVC-free material that's waterproof and mud-resistant. It's mid-calf, so for deep puddles or flooded paths a taller boot will keep you drier.

Is PVC or rubber better for rain boots?

Both keep water out. PVC boots tend to be firmer, while rubber boots are softer but heavier. The Brisk I is made from a soft, PVC-free material that's light enough to fold and roll up.

How do I choose my rain boot size?

Saguaro sizes run slightly large, so don't automatically go up a size. If you're between sizes or want to wear thick socks, WhatsApp us on 075 111 2222 and we'll help you pick.

How do you wear rain boots as a woman?

Mid-calf rain boots look good with skinny jeans tucked in, leggings, cropped trousers or a dress. Red stands out on a grey day, and black & brown goes with almost anything.

What are the best gumboots in South Africa?

It depends on the job. For building sites, farms or factories that need a steel toe, choose a safety gumboot; the Brisk I isn't one. For everyday rain, gardening and travel, look for a light, waterproof boot that folds away and gives your toes room. That's what the Brisk I is made for.
